Security Courses

SIA approved security training delivered in the City of London. All courses include nationally recognised, accredited First Aid qualifications.

Door Supervisor

£320

Special offer for a limited time, including an Emergency First Aid qualification (usually £90)

This is a 6 day classroom course, with an additional 8 hours of self study (including a workbook) to be completed before the course begins. All trainees also need to complete a One Day Emergency First Aid course before starting, making it 7 days in the classroom.

We provide First Aid qualifications on each course. They are nationally recognised and accredited, which ensures acceptance across the UK for all purposes.

It is the most popular and the best course to get employment, as it covers you to work across most areas of the security industry (offices, factories, warehouses, corporate, reception areas, shops, building sites, mobile patrols, pubs, clubs and more). This allows you to get an SIA licence to work as a door supervisor or a security officer.

Candidates must be 18 or over, not have a serious criminal record in the last 5 years, and have proof of identity. The SIA website has full information about identity documents and the types of offences that would lead to a licence being refused. Candidates must attend the whole course.

The course content is set by the exam board and SIA. You will be taught Roles and Responsibilities, Behavioural Standards, Equality and Diversity, Civil and Criminal Law, Arrest, Licensing Law, Drugs Awareness, Searching, Health and Safety, Fire Safety, Customer Care, Emergencies, Counter Terrorism, Vulnerable People, Queue Management, Recording Incidents, and Communication and Conflict Management.

You will spend one day doing Physical Intervention. This involves physical activity and some risk. To minimise the risk we insist on a strict code of behaviour and limit practice to techniques from an SIA approved programme. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. If you have any health concerns, phone or email in advance, and you will also complete a health questionnaire on the course.

As part of the assessments, candidates have to be filmed as evidence for the SIA and Awarding Body. This is not optional and is a condition of attending all SIA courses anywhere in the UK.

Door Supervisor Refresher Training

£220

Includes an Emergency First Aid course

To renew a Door Supervisor Licence you must attend a training course well in advance of the renewal date. We advise booking and training at least 3 months ahead. The course has two parts: Emergency First Aid, and the Door Supervisor Refresher.

The First Aid courses are nationally recognised and accredited (Ofqual regulated) with the NUCO awarding body, which ensures acceptance across the UK including for the SIA. These are much better than courses where the trainer issues their own certificate, which will not be accepted by various bodies and employers.

Unlike other providers we include Catastrophic Bleeds as a unit. This is required by the SIA but currently most training companies do not include it.

The DS Refresher includes principles of Terror Threat Awareness, Vulnerability Awareness, Advanced Search Procedures and the application of Physical Intervention skills. We do not recommend downgrading your licence to a Security Officer one, as it makes you less employable and still involves very similar refresher training anyway.

There is also a Self Study unit before the course, consisting of a workbook and two Action Counters Terrorism online courses. You will need a computer for this, and we submit your work to the SIA Awarding Body.

Self Defence / HLPI

£80

We run practical one day High Level Physical Intervention Self Defence and Restraint courses. This is a higher level than the P.I. that forms part of the SIA and Upskilling courses, and includes pain compliant techniques.

Our trainers are leading martial arts, army and prison service instructors. Certificates are presented on the day. A discount of £10 applies if you book a Door Supervisor and Self Defence course by email at the same time.
